Foreword and Pre-Order News!

Hey all! It’s been a busy past week and a half and the book is rapidly approaching completion, which is CRAZY to think about. I’ve taken a couple days off this week to work on edits and got through seventy pages yesterday! It’s both very warm AND full pollen season here in Minnesota, so I figure there’s nothing better to do with my time than have some tv on in the background as I get through a bunch of comments from editor Laura (while taking breaks to give Asta the rabbit many treats).

This message has two gigantic pieces of news, so keep reading!

First, I am so excited to finally announce who penned the foreword for the book- none other than Gregory Wright! Gregory is not only a comics professional with decades of experience but is a keen memoirist of the comics industry (seen mostly on social media when he posts or comments about a slice of comics life). I first met Gregory when Phillip and I had him on our podcast to talk about the 1993 Daredevil annual he wrote (we did a whole season about the 1993 Marvel annuals and the new characters they introduced, you should check it out!). I especially love Gregory’s Silver Sable run- it’s an under-appreciated classic Marvel really needs to give the omnibus treatment. Anyway, I knew there could be no one else to write the foreword to the book- he colored two issues of Alpha Flight but was otherwise occupied with other projects in the Marvel offices at that time. Thus, he has the knowledge and insight of the company at that time, while having a degree of distance from the series. I’m excited for you all to read what he wrote.

The second big piece of news? The book is officially up for pre-order! I have opted to make this a print exclusive through Barnes & Noble Press. There are other companies out there that offer self-publishing tools (ones I have used before!), but Barnes & Noble has a few things going for it. First, it isn’t Amazon. Second, it has distribution to many countries around the world- most importantly, Canada. Third, folks near a physical location can go into the store and request a copy be sent there for them.
